Spelunky crashes when switching focus

OS: Windows 10
LunkyBox Version: 1.3 (GOG)
Spelunky Version: 2.1.0.9

When switching focus back to Spelunky after switching away, it will crash with a popup window saying: "Error on device reset." with a Window title of "FATAL ERROR". Spelunky will not crash after switching focus until after the LunkyBox menu has been opened for the first time. It does not seem to matter whether the menu is open or closed, it will still crash.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I am using the "classic" menu layout.
