keeps giving nullpointerexception

mElasticDownloadView.startIntro(); keeps giving nullpointerexception

my steps are

1. Grab it from maven
   2)Declare this view in your layout
   3)At first, call startIntro().......and so on as described.

but at run time it gives nullpointer exception
