Binned FEL simulation quantities to plot #55

Peter's plots are probably the next needed thing, but just by doing his plots we've not necessarily done those that we need to do for Dave and Neil.

The list of plots I got from Dave Dunning was much more about binned quantities:

  1. Integrated power as a function of time
  2. slice analysis of current vs s (that's also in Peter's)
  3. slice analysis of epsilon_n vs s (that's one that Peter wants - there's a script that'll generate the data in python but it's not really set up to be done within visit, so would be a preprocessing step), unnormalized emittance is potentially also useful.
  4. average x pos, average y pos in slice (vs slice mean z/s position)
  5. average px, average py in slice (vs slice mean z/s position.)
  6. average energy, gamma vs s
  7. average energy spread vs s ( <gamma - <gamma_0>> vs s (where that is the gamma_0 of the whole beam or the gamma of the slice) - so two plots.
  8. sigma_x, sigma_y (ie rms size) per slice s
  9. beta_x, beta_y per slice s
  10. alpha_x, alpha_y per slice s

9 and 10 like epsilon/emittance are going to be probably set up in preprocessing. I put a script emittance2.py in the puffin dir that shows a couple of techniques for calculating normalized emittance.

Option of plotting these quantities averaged over the whole bunch, vs position along machine.
