feature request: add the option for an input window, rather than highjacking input of the main sts game

Hiya,

So I'd like to request an option to make a special input window, rather than highjacking input in sts for typing. The reason I would like this is because I prefer to use say the spire, but say the spire doesn't work with some things like downfall or some special things in replay the spire and such. So idealy, I could enable a special input window that I would type commands in, and it would leave input in the sts window free to use say the spire. If you could implement this it would be great! :-)
