Consideration of a Translation Platform like Weblate for Improved Localization Workflow

I would like to ask if there has been any consideration or discussion about adopting a dedicated translation platform such as Weblate for managing the project's localization efforts.

Weblate is a free, open-source platform designed specifically for translations, and it offers a much more user-friendly experience for translators compared to GitHub and pull requests. It simplifies the contribution process, provides better translation management, and encourages community involvement by lowering the technical barrier for contributors.

Using a platform like Weblate could streamline the translation workflow, improve the quality and consistency of translations, and potentially increase the number of contributors.

Is this something the team has thought about or plans to explore in the future?

We did do this for a bit using crowdin, but it did not seem to catch on with our user base. We will run it by the powers-that-be however to check if it is something we could pursue or not.

We do still have a project active on Crowdin. Is that platform acceptable for those providing, very much appreciated, translation improvements? Or is Weblate much easier to work with?

I couldn't find any link to Crowdin anywhere. Could you provide it to me? As for the platforms, I don't really mind - Crowdin is better, but Weblate is also great.

Hi. We'll resurrect this on Crowdin asap. We're going to mothball the old Crowdin project for the v2 UI and start a new one for the upcoming v3 UI. I'll ping you back here when the new Crowdin project is ready for eyeballs. Cheers!
