Error refreshing state Open(): open _testmain.go: no such file or directory

I am trying to debug some tests using gdlv, but every time I run gdlv test <package>, I see the above error in the gdlv console.
If I click the run button in the gui anyway, it reports PASS, and exits immediately.

_testmain.go is autogenerated so it doesn't exist and cannot be shown, it shouldn't affect anything else though.

So that is expected when running unit tests.

In that case, I don't know why my tests aren't running.

Just to confirm, to run tests, I should follow:

• run gdlv test in the root directory (next to go.mod, etc)
• click the "continue" button
• All tests should run. If for example you know a test should crash I should see a panic caught.

For some reason, I just see

goroutine 1:0> continue
PASS
Process 148910 has exited with status 0

In the console, when I crash should have been caught in one of my tests.

That means the tests ran and passed.
