Compatibility with CER module

Would it be possible to make the module compatible with Corresponding Entity References?

I am not sure if it is compatible, have briefly looked over CER and can see I need to invest additional time in researching how cer works to be able to give a better answer. Unfortunately I do not currently have the time to do this research but your are welcome to either look into it or doing a pull-request with adjustments to make it work.
