Clarification of FarmAnimal type to use on FarmCalendar

Hi @rapw3k and @JackJackUM I have another question, this time on FarmAnimal:

on the ocsm-profile-context.jsonld I see that the FarmAnimal is pointing to "https://smartdatamodels.org/dataModel.Agrifood/Animal", while in the ocsm-profile.ttl it seems to be importing https://w3id.org/demeter/agri/farmAnimal

which one should I use as the type of the FarmAnimal from the FarmCalendar?

And sorry to bother you if this is an obvious question, but again, I don't have much knowledge on this area =)

Hi @arruda Felipe, you do not bother....actually, you are asking the right questions and are indicating inconsistencies in the schemas that were defined. By the way, in ocsm-profile-context.jsonld, there is also a saref4agri definition of animal. So, there is overlap...and what to choose?

@rapw3k Raul: do you have an idea where the double import/reuse of this concept (and maybe others?) comes from?

It seems like it would be required to have some animal group identifier field as well, and an animal identification field that is not just the ID of the record in the farmcalendar but the ID tag of an animal (and also the national/regional ID number of that animal).

sorry about my delay, please see my answers:

• yes our model OCSM has term "AnimalGroup"
• farmAnimal is the name of the module that we import in ocsm-profile.ttl (is not the name of a concept). This module defines various different concepts and properties and relations related to management of livestock information.
• the OCSM context defines the terms FarmAnimal (from SmartDataModel - https://smartdatamodels.org/dataModel.Agrifood/Animal) and Animal (from Saref4Agri - https://saref.etsi.org/saref4agri/Animal). These two concepts are aligned in the farmAnimal module, i.e., saref4agri:Animal owl:equivalentClass fiware-agrifood:Animal .
• So, the term we use for representing an animal is "Animal"
• Below i propose the updated example. All the fields are in OCSM, except from castrated, which we will need to add. Questions:
• Is castrated a date or a boolean or a string?
• what is meaning of deleted_at, i used the existing invalidatedAtTime but if is not correct meaning we can create a new field.

btw, you can always use the json-ld playground to see if you are using correct terms from OCSM, where any term that does not exist in the model will appear as https://w3id.org/ocsm/default-context/..... For example see the previous animal definition: https://tinyurl.com/259xutsn . As you can see only castrated appears in default-context (i.e., https://w3id.org/ocsm/default-context/castrated)

Thanks for the help on this @rapw3k this link is really useful. I didn't quite understood these details on this tool like how only the "undefined" things would be set to the default context!

Answering your question, the castrated is a boolean field, and regarding the deleted at, I'll will indeed replace it to use the 'invalidatedAtTime' field, and similarly with the other fields as well.

Regarding animal group I'm currently using in this first implementation a simple string field. From what I've just tested with this link you sent, I can confirm that adding a field like: "AnimalGroup": "group1" indeed seems to be valid =D

@rapw3k one thing that I just forgot, I also had to add an national_id field, based on the SIP1 needs. This is basically the official unique animal identification in that country. and this is independent of the ID of the animal in the farm calendar.
Is this present in the ontology as well? From the SIP example of their animal management system this national ID is a string.

Just checked the JSON-ld check tool, and seems like now what is missing is indeed just these two fields: castrated and national_id.

By the way, I'm using the Parcel field instead of hasAgriParcel field. I'm not sure if the "has agri parcel" is the best one for this animal class, since it's more like the animal is in the parcel instead of if having the parcel like the farm does.
What do you guys think of this?

Hi @arruda : my two cents.... you are using a class where you should use a property. Parcel is a class and hasAgriParcel is a property, more specific an objectProperty. This means that the object of class Animal has an objectProperty hasAgriParcel that points to a Parcel. The Parcel again has an @id and an @type and maybe other properties that are important. So, the JSON-LD schema should look like this. By the way, the AnimalGroup has the same issue as it is a class and not a property. I fixed that one as well.
