also i had to change line 314 (as temporary fix) for run.ps1 because it wasn't able to detect codex.exe

Some more requirement issues:

codex.exe is not installed with npm, u can download the exe from codex repo on github and put it in path
visual studio build tools 2022 and spectre are required

• Allow PowerShell script execution (so .\scripts\run.ps1 can run):

  • Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope CurrentUser RemoteSigned (or session-only bypass)

• Install Visual Studio Build Tools 2022 with C++ toolchain:

  • Workload: Desktop development with C++
  • Components: MSVC v143 - VS 2022 C++ x64/x86 build tools
  • Windows 10/11 SDK (any recent one is fine)

• Fix for MSB8040 (Spectre requirement):

  • Install MSVC v143 - Spectre-mitigated libs (x64/x86) (Visual Studio Installer - Individual components)

• Use a supported Node version for the build (Node 24 caused issues here):

  • Install/use Node v22.x LTS (e.g. via nvm-windows: nvm use 22.11.0)

• Make sure node-gyp/@electron/rebuild uses VS 2022 (VS 2026/“18.x” was treated as unsupported by node-gyp):

  • Run from a normal PowerShell or VS 2022 Developer PowerShell (not VS 2026 dev shell)

  • Set:

    • GYP_MSVS_VERSION=2022
    • GYP_MSVS_OVERRIDE_PATH=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\BuildTools

• Clean build:

  • Delete .\work\ and re-run .\scripts\run.ps1 (the codex.exe not found error was a downstream failure after native rebuild broke).
