Subscription being required on self hosting; blocking content editing

So, I'm having this issue after running the downloadable binary for a while, and didn't find a way around it.

Workaround solution:

In case you are going through the same issue, you can update the Subscriptions table as follows. (Does not guarantee new users will not face the same issue later -- thus i'll keep the question open.)

UPDATE subscriptions
SET level = 'BASIC',
    status = 'active',
    number_of_editors = 1000;
WHERE level = 'TRIAL';
