Revive JUnit tests

When migrating the 0.4.1 branch to Maven, the tests stopped working due to numerous dependency issues (tools.jar etc.).

After migrating to Javassist, the tests would still run with the old Ant setup. To ensure future enhancements can be safely introduced, the tests should again be made runnable.
