Question: print statements?

Is there any reason you're doing debug print statements though? Using your library, I see lines like this in other apps:

Debug: init: _PLATFORM='linux', final target: address=('some.host.name', 5140) socktype=<SocketKind.SOCK_DGRAM: 2> format='rfc3164'
