Rename cordova-cli project to cordova-cli, clarification of cordova repository

Hi,

I was long time confused, what the corodova dependency means in a package.json from a plugin and it was only yesterday that I realized it refers to the cordova-cli project. I was also double confused, because there exists also a cordova repository, but is not related to cordova-cli and seems more like a placeholder repository containing only documentation. Is this repository really necessary? Can the name of cordova-cli changed in package.json to cordova-cli so the dependency is clear in other package.json? Is it possible to refer to cordova-cli in a package.json by cordova-cli OR cordova so not every package.json must directly be changed?

cordova is the "meta" repository... it has links to each other repository that is relevant today.

We use cordova NPM namespace for the cordova CLI, so changing that would mean having everyone update what they are installing as a NPM package. So I don't think that is feasible.

Could it be possible to create a npm package "cordova-cli" which redirects to "cordova", or vice versa?

I don't think NPM supports redirects or aliasing like that.

ChatGPT suggests to use cordova still as an alias package and add the following to the package.json:

  "bin": {
    "cordova": "./node_modules/cordova-cli/bin/cordova"
  }

This would redirect to the new package cordova-cli. Do you think, this would work?

I wouldn't make these big breaking changes to a NPM package that existed since forever and is installed by every user to use Cordova.

On NPM it's pretty well documented that the cordova package is the CLI

The cordova repository is the landing page for all our repos, some docs and most importantly the home for discussions. Maybe we can add a note to the README right at the top Looking for the Cordova CLI code go here to clear up the confusion.

Ok, I just wanted to make software easier to understand, but maybe it's also ok, if the user have to learn that cordova means the cli. Good idea with the README. We could also write what you wrote This cordova repository is the landing page for all our repos, some docs and most importantly the home for discussions and could add, that this is not the npm package cordova and the text If you are looking for the Cordova CLI repository, which has the npm package name "cordova", go here... I can make a PR for it.
