Feature request: Release builds for Darwin arm64

Hi again, so I have a fork of this working for Apple Silicon. While I'm happy to see AWS release the source, this project is very non-standard with regards to laying out a Go codebase. I to hack up a go.mod quite a bit to get it building. It also has very dated dependencies.

I'm maintainer of the downstream packaging of this plugin for Nix. I currently use the binary releases shipped on AWS for the Nix package. My question is: is it worth my effort switching the Nix packaging to source builds with Go mod hacks (I'd like to use source rather than opaque binaries for the Nix package, and I also need a build for arm64-darwin), or are AWS going to maintain and improve this codebase soon rendering my packaging changes obsolete?
