buffer overrun

I'm getting distortion with Cpiped feeding into Owntone which I assume are buffering problems. If I use arecord I get overrun messages ("overrun!!! (at least 6935.229 ms long)") but it then works fine. So I assume that my buffer overrun may be too much for cpiped max buffer of 5s. Is it possible to extend the buffer size in Cpiped? I'm happy to try and rebuild it myself (if a new first for me) if you can point me to which part of the code needs to be altered.

I got a similar problem.
with my rPi 3B and reloop phono USB Audio Device.

running with arecord everything works fine, even without any overrun message.

But when using cpiped a get "overrun occurred" an there are parts where parts of the audio is skipped also, the audio is played slightly to slow.

Any idea?

I haven't used cpiped in years, but I'd suspect a sample rate mis-match. 44.1 kHz vs. 48 kHz is a common mis-match that could cause this. If you can tell that the audio is slow and the skips are frequent, this is probably it.

If it just skips occasionally, well, that's what cpiped does. It allows you to play audio that is slightly mis-matched.

I’d intended to use cpiped to monitor two inputs, CD and vinyl, and switch the active (non silent) to owntone. But in the end I connected a physical switch to a gpio input and monitor that to switch the stream. I still had some, different, buffering problems to the HomePod which I only resolved by connecting the RPi by Ethernet rather than WiFi.
