Restore a backup Persistent Volume (PV)

Please read through the documentation about OCP4 Backup and Restore before proceeding with this request!

Note that only the netapp-file-backup type of Persistent Volume can be restored from OpenShift.

Step 1

Fill out the following fields

• Date: Feb 3, 2026 ~ 9:00am
• Cluster: Silver
• Source PV: pvc-5a439947-f971-430a-a082-478f421569c7
• Destination PV: pvc-b726b9b2-c332-452c-93a2-536054810343/home/postgres/pgdata

Note that the Source and destination can be the same PVC or separate. You can specify sub-folders instead of the whole volume.

Note: both PVC source and destination must be a netapp-file-backup PVC on the same cluster.

Note that we need the PV not the PVC name. ie: pvc-<uuid>

For this to work, both source and destination PV need to be of type netapp-file-backup. The source is currently deleted so can't confirm if that was the case for the source, but the current destination PV is of type netapp-block-standard.

If you give us an alternate PV of type netapp-file-backup then we can submit the request, but the request will only be fulfillable if the Storage team confirms the source PV was also of type netapp-file-backup.

We do take daily backups of all PVC names of type netapp-file-backup on all clusters for the case where someone only knows their original PVC name but not the PV after it was deleted. The source PV is not in any of the CSV files for SILVER, meaning it is not a netapp-file-backup volume and thus this restore request cannot be fulfilled.

hey william - thanks for the heads up. our stateful set volume templates are set for netapp-file-standard. we need to do an audit of our namespaces and get this changed. thankfully (I forgot) to check our backup container. I'll try and do a restore manually from the dump file on the third. you can close this issue. apologies!
