Configuration: basic.XMLPATH should allow ext folder shortcuts starting with EXT:myext

In backend extension configuration there is a field basic.XMLPATHwhich describes the folder of the CoolUriConf.xml.
As one should (be able to) outsource templates and site configuration to an extension it would be wonderful if a value like
EXT:myext/Configuration/CoolUri/
would be possible. Instead currently (1.1.14) only this is possible:
typo3conf/ext/myext/Configuration/CoolUri/
Although this works in most scenarios, it is not the preferred way.
