<space> fc works but \cite{} doesn't finde the references

As stated in the title i cannot figure out why \cite{} cannot find the books from the zotero library.
I also already tried ":VimtexClearCache kpsewhich" but it doesnt help

Is your .bib file in the same directory?

Thanks for the answer. I thought the Zotero bib file is supposed to be in ~/texmf/bibtex/bib ?
Should I just move it to ~/documents?

Sorry for my delay... I've been slammed. The .bib file is supposed to be in ~/texmf/bibtex/bib. I've also had some trouble getting it to find it from time to time. I'll try to dig up what worked to fix it and send it to you later today.

Sorry for my delay. Have you tried :VimtexReloadState and :VimtexReload? I think the first one should fix things, at least if it is the same issue I was having a while back.
