There are two contexts for calling require('proof'). One is your test program. The other is in a test harness. A test harness, as described in the readme, is a helper that does setup and teardown for the test. The test program is a test program.

When I write these responses to your questions, please be patent if they ramble, repeat themselves.

When you create a proof test, the first argument is the number of assertions expected. The second argument is an asynchronous step function.

In the instance of the first function. The order of the parameters doesn't matter. You can request any of the assertion functions the async function or anything your harness returned. Name it. Proof pulls it out the context based on the name.

When you perform an async call, the next async step function is used to name the response of your call. See #105.
