Only works for complete words

I have a few hundred products with some lengthy names. For example, for "Super Slim Jeans", I must type at least one of the three words in entirety. If a customer types "jean", it's expected that a list will show up, whereas it doesn't until he presses "s". In the demo store on your Shopify article too, "dress" returns nothing, "dresses" does. Is there a way to change this to allow partial search, or even better, fuzzy string search?

I've figured out how to have incomplete words show up in the search results.

Go to search-autocomplete.liquid and change the following line from:

var searchURL = '/search?type=product&q=' + term;

to

var searchURL = '/search?type=product&q=' + term + '*';

the asterix at the end makes all the difference. My only problem is that when someone types in a search term and presses enter, the asterix doesn't work. I have to figure out how to add that in too but this is a good start.

The asterisk solution does not work for me. It now brings up an enormous list ignoring the search term entirely. For example, when I type in "Phen" into the search bar the first result is "5-htp". Has anyone gotten closer to a solution for this?
