D3 Support? #2

Hi,
Was reading your comment from http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/17250/how-to-create-animated-cluster-markers-in-openlayers-leaflet and I'd love to know how far you've managed to go with the features you mentioned there.. "I am planning on adding things like customizable marker images and zoom-transition strategies" Will these be d3 sort of features or will you implement them differently say maybe CSS3 as I've managed to do after researching for a few hours? The D3 approach would be better especially if the clusterer could draw the clusters rather than use images allowing for on the fly styling and zoom-transition changes. I'm fairly new to D3 but I'd be more than willing to help out if you need the help.
