Merge our two solutions

Hi Christian,

What a great project! Especially because i've been working on a home domotica solution for the RPi for about a year now, that since about two months is known under the name pilight (http://www.pilight.org) :) So instead of reinventing the wheel, i would love to implement the protocol that controls your lights into my project (if it isn't already).

Thank you for your e-mail.
As you can guess I was not aware of your project, and of course I never
intended to take the name "pilight" away from you. I hope you're not too
upset with me giving my little project the same name.

Your's also looks like a very cool project, that has a much much more
versatile approach than mine. Regarding your suggestion of implementing
the protocol in your project I see two problems:
1.) My stuff works at 868 MHz (where your's works at 433)
2.) I am using the CC110L which is connected to my PI via SPI (=4 wires)
instead of just one GPIO pin (I hope I did interpret your hardware
correctly)

The truth is the CC110L is much more flexible in terms of RF than your
current RF. The only way I could see a (very intensive) merge is if you
would give up on your current simple RF and switch to the CC110L, which
covers 433, 868 and 933 MHz + diverse modulation formats at the cost of
a much more complicated interface (= SPI + CC110L Register Settings and
FIFO)

What do you say?

There are also 868 kits available on ebay so that should work to.

2.) I am using the CC110L which is connected to my PI via SPI (=4 wires) instead of just one GPIO pin (I hope I did interpret your hardware correctly)

Instead of giving up things, why not expanding things. I made things very modular. There are essentially three parts that have to be expanding for new hardware. The hardware.c file, the sender function, and the receiver function. It should not be that difficult to do but i don't own the hardware myself. I don't know if you're experienced with C but than you can try and i will of course assist you. Another option would be for me to buy the specific chip and try it myself with your help. In case of the latter, any idea where i could cheaply buy it?

Sounds interesting, but truth be told I won't be able to work on this
project till X-mas holidays :( However this definitely made it to my
"review later" todo list.

I just did a commit pilight/pilight@b138703 to pilight that makes the external hardware support modular. You can now simply add a hardware object to pilight which defines a custom send, receive, init, and deinit function and pilight will be able to work with it. So i think adding support for the CC110L can't be any easier. The hardware objects can be found in the folder hardwares.

It has been some while ago that we had contact. It would be really great if you still found time to implement the 868Mhz support. I've tried several receivers but haven't found any that work.
