I was curious if this package is still useful/necessary in 2021? From the number of NPM downloads, I can see that there still a huge base using it, but I was curious if there are better techniques now?
Would peerDependenciesMeta be able to replace this in npm@7 and yarn?

Anything to consider? This works in most cases but feels like it is cheating around a problem. Am I wrong in that assumption? In an ideal world, how could this be unnecessary?
