Bug Description

When I run "pip install mmif-python I get an error.

Reproduction steps

This is on Python 3.12 on Mac OS 14 (Sonoma) on a clean virtual environment:

$ pip install mmif-python
Collecting mmif-python
 Using cached mmif_python-1.0.19.tar.gz (66 kB)
 Installing build dependencies ... done
 Getting requirements to build wheel ... error
 error: subprocess-exited-with-error

See below for full log.

Doing a pip install --upgrade pip did not help.

Expected behavior
