Much of the slowness seems to be from stuff crashing into each other, competing for CPU cycles and network, particularly on YouTube where tons of stuff loads simultaneously. A proof of concept startup delay of a couple seconds lets everything settle down and actually allows higher def streams to more reliably play (while still allowing network data to flow in). This will now be configurable.
