Trouble installing deb file onto KDE ubuntu

I tried the flatpak found on the website first, chat.commet.commetapp.flatpak and running flatpak install gave me this:

error: The application chat.commet.commetapp/x86_64/master requires the runtime org.gnome.Platform/x86_64/48 which was not found

Then I tried the .deb file, commet-ubuntu-24.04-x64.deb in the releases page, and trying to install using dpkg -i gave me this:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of commet:
 commet depends on libmpv1; however:

I'm very new to linux, but it looks like commet depends on gnome utilities, which I and many other users do not intend to have.

For the flatpak, try this before trying to run it again:

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak install flathub org.gnome.Platform//48 org.gnome.Sdk//48

As for the .deb, probably something for us to look into. I don't think Ubuntu has libmpv1.

I was able to install it on Kubuntu 24 without issues
