Is it possible to use a VM for testing the BIOS FW?

I see a lot of posts about having to recover bricked machines after testing new flash builds.
This is terrible and time wasting.

Has anyone tried to build a virtual machine using (for example) QEMU to simulate the board Hardware?
What info would be required to make such a VM simulator?
