Controlling for FWF in hippocampal analyses #216

Hello,
I am currently working on a project testing if microstructure (specifically NDI and ODI measures in this case) relates to age and episodic memory in the hippocampus. This is a developmental focused project, so our sample is 4-7 year old children. I'm using NODDI to see if there is an association to my measures of interest within the hippocampus (therefore assuming I'm capturing mainly gray matter in the subfields from my scans), and I'm wondering if I should control for FWF mean, specifically for my NDI analyses, or not.
I am aware that the formula for NDI accounts for FWF, but I was wondering, due to the proximity of ventricles in the hippocampus, if controlling for FWF would mitigate some partial volume effects. I should also note that I am not looking into FWF because I do not have hypotheses regarding FWF being linked to my measures of interest (i.e. age and memory).
I would love to know your thoughts on this, and can provide any additional information on my project if need be!
