Description
Overview of Issue
Tara emailed that she is having trouble on the PSD Music installation with adding standards to students.
I went in and tried to:
- Create a subject (MU for "Music" added successfully)
- Create a course (there were none...added MU 23 successfully)
- Add standards to that course (Screen not working right, but I managed to add two standards with a workaround using the other tab with "Create/Move link)
- Finally, I tried to add that course to John Brim (test student) using Student Information Screen. This did not "stick"....and resulted in John Still having no classes on his Standards Progress screen...an empty tag cloud.
Here are screens showing what I did...note that DEBUGGING IS ON...causing the multitude of messages at the top of the screens. These are not all necessary messages.
Create Subject & Level - Should be two letters for "subject area" and numbers for level/course ID. Note that weight is "Credits" really, and should be "1" if you use a Carnegie type system.
Viewing Pull Down of Courses Should Show Standards - Not working correctly
Find Standards to Edit - Since the list is not working, click Go to Standards button and see list of standards already in the system for that course. Add Standard should be here, but is not showing up. Here is MU 23:
Work Around to Add Standards to Course
So...the only way I could add standards to a course was to go to the "Create, Delete, Rename" screen. It works, but you have to add each standard one at a time to the course.
After Creating Course, Add Student To Level - You need to use the Student Information Screen (Individual Nav Menu or click on the icon next to student's name in search list) to add kids to levels / courses. The Add All link adds the default 9 content areas for each student. You need to add MU in this case to get the available courses. This did not work as expected, and "added the Content Area", but did not allow me to actually add the student to MU 23.
Saving Does Not Add MU 23 to Student
View of Standards Progress for Student Missing MU 23 - Student is still not in any courses or levels....
