File name convention for languages that do not support compilation with a dash in the name?

I am unable to match the naming convention as Erlang requires that the source file name match the module name. The module name cannot contain a dash.

Let's use all lowercase, no spaces in those instances: goodbyeworld.ext

I've stuck to goodbye-world everywhere it was possible. Exceptions:

• Mercury and Erlang force you to declare a module name, which then must be used for the filename. I've shortened the name to 'goodbye', though 'goodbye_world' and 'goodbyeworld' would also work. In practice, you typically would want to avoid longer module names, and I thought 'goodbye' read cleanest.
• OCaml will let you omit a module declaration, but will then infer it from the filename. Hyphens are not allowed in module names, so in this case the hyphen was removed from the filename.
• With Modula-2, you have the same restrictions as Mercury and Erlang, but it is also case sensitive. It is customary to use verbose, properly cased module names in the fashion demonstrated.

I'm sure there's other exceptions out there, but the language and examples of source files will likely show you the best practice.
