Hello everyone,
I am writing to share an important update regarding the future of this project.
As many of you may have seen, X (formerly Twitter) has officially updated their API pricing model to a "Pay-Per-Use" structure. According to their recent announcement here, the cost has been set to $0.01 per tweet, with the complete removal of a viable free tier for developers.
My original vision for this tool was to create a comprehensive CLI, similar to the Google Cloud CLI that would support all X API endpoints, starting with free tiers and eventually expanding to paid features.
However, building and maintaining an open-source tool on top of a strictly pay-walled API is not sustainable. The lack of a free tier for testing and development makes it impossible to continue this project in the spirit of open source without incurring high personal costs or passing those costs on to users.
I do not believe the current pricing model is fair or conducive to the open-source ecosystem.
Unless X reverts these changes or introduces a sandbox/free tier for open-source developers, I don't think I'm willing to continue building this product.
Thank you to everyone who showed interest in the project.
