Is this project still going forward? 

I would love to see this project continued and would be willing to pay a good deal of money for such an add on. Maya already has such a plugin developed for it. I do a lot of my modeling in Oculus Medium now and the ability to work in VR in Blender also would be a massive boon to my work flow.
