Determinism from snapshot

I was reading the doc on determinism, and I was wondering about the emphasis on same initial conditions. Does this mean the simulation is only deterministic if I play a simulation from the beginning? I want to be able to save a simulation's state from the middle, load it and have it reach the same end state as if I had ran the whole simulation. Does anyone know if this is something I'd be able to do?

Yes, my experience is that Rapier is deterministic from snapshots. I'm using it for rollback netcode which restores from snapshots a lot (see https://easel.games). Unfortunately there is a bug #910 which means restoring from snapshots has been broken since 0.25, but hopefully that will be fixed soon.
