Clarify

Hi!

Another common tools in artistic operation is clarify.
It apply a sharpen coefficient but only to mid-tones preserving shadows and highlights.
Would you consider it for a future release?

I'm getting more motivated to make common adjustments (saturation, brightness, contrast, sharpen) take a curve option and maybe a mask option. Masking would be better as a composition, but there are a couple of steps required to do that, hence why an option might be more useful.

I will implement a couple of standard curves to make it easy (like the logistic curve). That would "automatically" mean there is both vibrance and clarity implemented.

Thank you for taking care of a common approach.
I really like the idea of default curves body to simplify the process for common cases.

Yet... I also really appreciate the fact than you can build an histogram and then pass it as rasterization offer a LOT of more fine tuning.

Do you know an UI tool that would permit the visual creation of complexe curves, probably addition of many that could replace an histogram as an image?

I can always open an histogram with an image editing software and tune some grey pixel for high precision. It is impossible with curves or it would require some specific beziers.

Consistent interpolation is the benefits of curves, high precision and hard break in parameters aka stairs if the benefits of rasterized histogram as image.

I found this https://ppelikan.github.io/drlut/ to help with visual feedback and basic math curves formula than can later be configured. Sigmoid, Flat top, Step, etc

BTW, "clarity" is, as best I can tell, very similar to Image.local_constrast/2
