Files taking too long to save #53

Hello,
The server I manage is 9 years old and has a very large overworld file since we never reset (survival server).
The Overworld file is over 100 GB large, this takes ebackup nearly a full day to successfully backup the file, but the server crashes every 16 hours without a restart occurring (our restart schedule is every 12 hours).
Our required restart schedule means that ebackup never completes a successful backup in time, is there any way to speed up the backup process to make it nearly twice as fast, or make backup system not fail on restart (continues to backup on the same file when rebooted)
I would appreciate the help since this server is very important to me and its a fairly big community.
