The ability under "Settings" to transmit text via the connected port is very useful. It would be helpful if a text string response could be displayed as well The Settings panel is sort of narrow, but you could add a text box there under the "Save" and "Transmit" buttons. Even if the text had to wrap in a narrow field, it would be useful (at least to our use case).
Would it be possible to parse out something like "MSG: text string from host app" from the incoming stream?
Our use case:
Connected to robot vehicle via bluetooth 38400. We do not stream data constantly, only after completing certain operations.
We would like to be able to send commands to the robot via the existing functionality, but then have a response string be displayed, possibly as outlined above.
Alternatively, you could have a chart type of "Message" or "Text" or "String" (displayed with the "Time Domain", "Histogram", etc. buttons) that maps to a selected column in the incoming CSV Data and displays the text string in the selected Tile
Example:
3.14,42,This is a text column,2.718
3.14,42,,2.718
3.14,42,Now this text is displayed until next text string is parsed,2.718
