Is smfh still needed as a flake input? #127

The smfh github is given as a flake input. I understand why that was needed before smfh was on nixpkgs stable, but is it still needed? Maybe so it works even with very old nixpkgs?
Doesn't sourcing smfh force consumers to rebuild it instead of caching it from nixpkgs? Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not a Nix expert. Perhaps since the version matches the one in nixpkgs it can be substituted so it's not a big deal, and it's worth the upside of being able to make consumers get a new version before it's available on nixpkgs. I'm curious.
