New release

There have been a lot of great fixes added after 3.7 here that I have actually added in similar ways to my 3.6 release. Is there any chance of getting a 3.8 release any time soon? I would like to start using the GitHub release tar file instead of having a bunch of patches in my RPM build.

A few months ago I have asked the original author for permission and maybe even official endorsment for this patch repo. He refused (for understandable reasons, mainly his name being associated with it and him having the responsibility). I think this would also include baking a new release under the same name. This situation is a bit annoying, as in Debian today I ship 3.6 with all patches from fln/gnarwl, still calling it gnarwl.

I think one would at least have to rename the project to something like gnarwl-ng . Maybe it could still build the same binaries and conflict with the old package.

I don't know whether Patrick Ahlbrecht's original authorship has any legal relevancy in this discussion, but I think we should follow his wishes as much as possible.

It has been four years with no news on this? I was quite shocked after seeing that the main version on debian 10 is still the same as it was on a debian 6. At least it is good to read that the patches have been included.
