Unable to run application from source

Came across this project and wanted to give it a try, so I built from source following the instructions in the wiki. Everything builds fine, however ran into a couple snags when it tries to run:

If I build from the default master branch, after downloading the operators (which is seems to do successfully), I see the following error dialog:

I thought this might mean I need to switch to the develop branch, so I did a fresh clone, switched to that, and rebuilt. Then I got this error message:

Any ideas on how to get around these issues?

Hey Richard, I'm trying myself to get tooll to run atm and fixed so far this issue and the next ones you will experience after this.

1. To fix the first issue, clone the Operator repo into this folder:

cd /g/tooll/Operators
git clone https://github.com/framefield/tooll_operators .

So the operators are available, but the code checks for a specific version, which errors out if not found. I just deleted that code:

Open Tooll/App.xaml.cs
Comment the lines 294 and 295

The next error will be, that I need to choose a soundtrack, but I have no clue what to select. Tried a .mod and .xm file, but nothing. The code will error out with a uncatched exception, so I just quit the function before it accesses a null pointer:

Add this return:

            if (info == null)

Then there is another error, caused by missing assets. Again, I fixed it by proper error checking:

Open file Core/Rendering/DefaultRenderer.cs
Add import: using System.Windows.Forms;

And add error checking via try/catch:

You will see this error then, but it won't nuke the application anymore, so just press ok:

Well, and now I'm stuck with this error:

I think there is the whole assets-common folder missing? For the case framefield doesn't want to provide all assets, it would be epic if there would be at least a minimum working assets folder.

I hope we can figure this stuff out, tooll is the best tool I've seen in a long time. But atm I have no time anymore for bug hunting, probably it's all about missing assets.

Nevermind, I just got it working. Download the assets as stated in here: #1

Compiled from current Dev branch. Tooll launches, however it appears that I'm missing a required operator. All current operators from the public git repo and all asset folders are present.

I'm also seeing the same error as Alopexus.

Commenting out the "cubemapSphereDefinition" and all references to "_cubemapSphereOperator" in D3DRenderSetup.cs along with the _renderSetup.RenderCubemapAsSphere() in ShowSceneControl.xaml.cs at least gets tooll to compile and start properly, but I assume this will lead to some runtime issues.

It's definitely just a missing check in for the operator: 276da400-ea2d-4769-9e69-07dd652c928e in the tooll_operators repo, but I don't know where we'd procure that.
