Yes, it will require manual labor from those who to do the merge of a merge request. git pull is somethingelse as git merge. Hints on avoiding the manual labor are appriciated.

You can configure gitHub to do a rebase instead of a merge when merging a pull request. Then there is no extra commit added by github.
