Mediawiki implementation?

Just wanted to throw this out there as an idea. I'm very new to development so I don't have the chops to do this myself, but I would be interested in seeing someone implement this into the Mediawiki wiki framework. They recently revamped their editor with the Visual Editor Process in 2015 but it hasn't been widely adopted quite yet for various reasons. It would be interesting to see this pulled over to Mediawiki in the same way that is has been for Drupal.

Right, at least the solution they had previously to the new editor was not very inviting. If the new one is not catching on, the UX is probably blocking contributors on various wikis. Our team has limited experience with MediaWiki and it's community however. If you know anyone from the camp, point them to this issue, and we'll be happy to help them get started.
