Tried on windows 10 with pip version 9.0.1, used "py -m pip install gitgud", which said it installed correctly. Typing "git gud" yielded:

git: 'gud' is not a git command. See 'git --help'.

Is your Python's built bin/ dir (or maybe Scripts\ on windows) on your PATH? Any git <stuff> command actually just runs git-<stuff>, so how gitgud works is it creates a command called git-gud. If that command isn't placed somewhere where your CLI can run it, then git won't find it.
