Get the model thinking?

Is there a possiblity that we can get a callback on what the model is thinking before starting the output?
the copilot cli shows that in gray.

Good news - the SDK already supports accessing model reasoning/thinking! 🎉

When using models that support reasoning (like GPT-5* models), you can listen for:

• assistant.reasoning_delta - streaming reasoning chunks (the gray text you see in the CLI)
• assistant.reasoning - final reasoning content

Example:

session.on("assistant.reasoning_delta", (event) => {
    process.stdout.write(event.data.deltaContent); // Stream reasoning as it arrives
});

session.on("assistant.reasoning", (event) => {
    console.log(event.data.content); // Final reasoning content
});

This works across all SDK implementations (.NET, Go, Node.js, Python). Check your SDK's README for language-specific examples.

Additional notes:

• Set streaming: true when creating the session to get delta events
• You can also configure reasoning effort via reasoningEffort option ("low", "medium", "high", "xhigh")
