[Question] How is hm-panelizer different from kikit (the GUI kicad plugin)?

While I realize this project is quite old; I wonder how it is different then the KiKit GUI version. I was hoping to find a tool that would panelize 'random' boards by allowing for manual layout, but it seems this tool just panelizes the same board. If that is the case, I suppose this is now obsolete and no longer needed :(

I believe you can use this project for different size pcb as the demo screen suggests, but I think you need to do it through code using the gerberset file and then import.
