How to select an image for insert from search and bug closing plugin without selecting anything #5

Firstly I am sorry to combine two things into one issue but they are kind of related, or should I say the effect of one caused me to notice the other - if you prefer me to separate them I can.
For my question, I am just wondering how you can insert an image to the Sanity Studio from the search functionality of the plugin. If I just browse our assets by navigating visually, I can select one and, once selected, I see the insert button become activated to be able to add it. However, if I use the search functionality within the plugin, and then select an asset in the results list, it opens the image but I cannot for the life of me see a way to then insert it / use it.
This leads me to the bug, as I went through the above to try to find a way to insert the image after a search, I accidentally closed the plugin popover - so I hadn't selected anything to insert. When I tried to then use the plugin again to select an image, the plugin will not open. The only way to fix is to refresh the page in the browser and then I can access it again. I have tested this without using the search and the behaviour is the same - I navigate to a sanity document that contains an image field, click the select button, choose image kit, the popover opens. Then I close the popover using the cross in the top right before selecting anything to insert. After that, trying to reopen the plugin again by clicking the select button and choosing image kit will cause nothing to happen until I refresh the page.
