Clipboard typing: "Launch custom app" not working for VIP Access

I have selected VIP Access as the custom app, but when I select Clipboard/VIP Access (en-DV) from a Keepass2Android entry page, it doesn't launch the custom app - it just pops up the message InputStick plugin: Copy text to clipboard over the entry page.

I've just checked and it works correctly, both on Android 8 and 10.
On Android 10 the app must have permission to "Display over other apps" - it will display notification about this.
To enable it manually: system settings -> Apps & Notification -> See all apps -> KP2A InputStick Plugin -> Advanced -> Display over other apps.
On Android 8 it works even without the permission.

What Android version do you use?
Have you tried launching other apps?

BTW: typing from clipboard does not work on Android 10 (apps running in background no longer can access clipboard). This will be solved in next app update

Thanks, @inputstick, that permission was the problem. I don't remember seeing that notification on my phone (Redmi Note 8 Pro), or I think I would have done what it recommended.

It's Android 9 (actually MIUI 11). Google Authenticator had the same problem, when I tried it.

In MIUI, I had to go in to Settings/Apps/Manage Apps/KP2A InputStick Plugin/Other permissions, then enable Display pop-up windows while running in the background before it would work.

By the way, is there some way of launching this functionality without (1) opening KP2A, (2) unlocking the database, (3) choosing an entry and then (4) selecting the Clipboard/VIP Access entry from the menu? It doesn't seem like it has anything to do with the selected KP database entry, so it would be ideal if I could trigger it directly from an icon on my home screen. (My use case: I use KeePass 2 on my PC for usernames and passwords, but sometimes I need a 2FA code from VIP Access on my phone, to type into the PC. Streamlining this would be nice.)
