Using Brave fails with "fail to request MetaMask" errors

• Prepped by connecting to Rinkeby with Brave's built-in Crypto Wallet Metamask.
• Then after going to the Splitter URL, the dropdown shows Rinkeby as connected.
• However when I click the "Connect Wallet" button I get a "fail to request MetaMask" error. This shows up in the UI above the contract address field.

Switching to Firefox with Metamask, everything works fine so it seems to be a Brave issue.

• In Ff the module detected that I wasn't connected to Rinkeby and requested I change network.
• In Brave it didn't get that far, only the error message appeared.

But today, following the same steps, it works in Brave. So set this to testing.
