One of the syntaxes adds a new method to Promise.prototype.

That is not recommended practice. It's worse when it's the default behavior of the package.

Yup I agree this isn't the best way to do it.

A better approach would be to use function-bind to bind to the Promise dynamically:

const fetchData = new Promise(/* ... */)
const [err, data] = await fetchData::handle()
