I don't know what libsox-fmt-mp3 is, but I do know that this library already supports most popular sound formats, including .mp3 and .wav

Can you share your code that caused this error?
Also I recommend you us the helper methods attached to this project to work with Sox. Those methods are tested, and they work.

My other suggestion is for you to try merging .wav files only, and see if you get the same errors.

Are you aware that Enviroment.getExternalStorageDirectory() is deprecated on android? it could be part of the reason why your code is not working.
