IMG is a simple dump of logical sector contents. SCP is a dump of flux timings. The latter is several levels lower than a sector-contents dump, and you should not expect to view things like file contents by inspection of the SCP dump. |

I have a Panasonic JU-455-5 hooked up to Greaseweazle. I put in an old 360K PC floppy with data on it and enter
gw read --format=ibm.360 1.img
I open 1.img in Winhex. In text view there is some readable text at the beginning but most of the disk is apparently unused and is filled with "o" or, in hex view, 6F. With the same disk I enter
gw read 1.scp
I open 1.scp in Winhex. There is no readable text anywhere, and in hex view the unused area of the disk shows random numbers, though there are repetitive patterns in places. How am I to understand this? (Sorry, I am a total noob at Greaseweazle.)
